Wimbledon Common and London Scottish Golf Clubs raising funds to repair golf course from extra lockdown traffic and weather

Dry scored fairway on the 18th hole

Wimbledon Common Golf Club and London Scottish Golf Club are jointly raising funds to help pay for the extra materials and machinery repairs that our Head Greenskeeper Ian Jennings and his team need in order to restore the golf course tees, fairways, approaches, and greens to playing condition and then on to tiptop condition, in time for the 150th Anniversary celebrations of the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Act, planned for late summer.

As you may have seen, we sustained terrible damage from the extra traffic on the Common during lockdown, not to mention the extremely wet winter weather. This has harmed not only our course condition, but the grasslands that so many members of the public enjoy regularly or used extra during permitted exercise in lockdown. The greens are already improved, but fairways continue to suffer from extra foot and bicycle traffic and variations in the weather, and equipment that the greenkeepers use needs repair or replacement.

If you enjoy Wimbledon Common's open spaces for walking, cycling, ball playing, picnicking, dog walking, and more, can you help us spread the word that we need help?

We are fundraising on GoFundMe at https://gofund.me/8bcd284e.

Thank you very much!
